Five years on 125th and counting. House of Hoops Harlem was established in 2007 as the pinnacle retail experience for basketball consumers. Not just for Uptown – but for all of Manhattan. Priding itself on performance product, authentic style and the love of the game. Collaborating with typographer Matt Tapia, we worked to combine a strong throwback graphic language and color a story that celebrates and honors hoops culture. Iconic tonal imagery of the Harlem’s basketball courts and parks was captured, incorporating the spirit and urban environment that gives them heart and soul. Pulling physical elements from the city; scaffolding, dark wood textures and gold accents, I created a premium and energizing retail experience to honor Harlem, where basketball is legend.
