Shave-ice and ice cold kicks. To coincide with the opening of the Nike Air pop-up space a mobile retail unit was created to hit popular outdoor basketball courts and parks throughout the city of Chicago during the World Basketball Festival, keeping the trucks location traceable via social media channels. The truck also sported a pop-up hoop of its own so a pick-up game could happen at a moment’s notice. Along with free shave-ice on hot Mid-West summer days the truck was used as a launchpad for an arsenal of new and reissued footwear thought to be long sold-out, as well as directing traffic back to the physical space for limited release gear.
The design concept was a playful nod to the look-and-feel of the Pop-up space, while working in-unison with current product sold there. White-on-white 3M materials, oversized logos, and the visual language from Nike Air product was adapted for all exterior signage and shave-ice flavors.
The project received numerous hits on top industry sites like: Modern Notoriety, SoleCollector, Sneakernews, and Kicksonfire.
